‘A qué sabe Sinaloa’ a short film to pay homage to Sinaloa’s gastronomy
It doesn’t matter how rich the home we visit is in Sinaloa we are always greeted the same way: “Have you eaten yet? We are used to extraordinary vegetables, meats, fish, and seafood, so this series tells through the eyes and lives of eight renowned chefs from the state about Sinaloa’s gastronomy, its tradition, and evolution. ‘A qué sabe Sinaloa’ is about our cuisine, but above all, it is about the best the state has to offer: our people.
’A qué sabe Sinaloa’ (What Sinaloa Tastes Like) is the most recent project that Periodico Noroeste has completed and consists of a documentary series or docu-series, that tells the story of eight chefs from Sinaloa in eight chapters, who take us by the hand not only through their cuisine, but through all the gastronomy that surrounds it from which they feed, provide and enjoy”.
Available on the streaming platform Cinepolis Klic, the production, was directed by the filmmaker Isaac Arangure and directed by Adrián López Ortiz, who took on the task of traveling through much of Sinaloa with the chefs, to reflect on their daily lives, their life stories, their culinary tastes, their favorite places to eat. In this 8-episode documentary series, we will be able to visit the kitchen of the chefs from Sinaloa: Andrea Lizarraga, Hector Peniche, Omar Serrano, Miguel Taniyama, Julian Portugal, Luis Osuna, Maria Dolores Balderrama, Diego Becerra; in a tour narrated by renowned actor Miguel Rodarte.
The series not only reflects the eight signature cuisines, but also the gastronomy of more than 100 establishments, including restaurants, taco places, seafood restaurants, boats, factories, farms, and towns in Sinaloa.
