Our farming community Veggies from Mexico is a great ally for the Culiacan Food Bank
According to the Culiacan Food Bank, the first half of the year is considered the best of the year in food donations; during the agricultural season in the region, this year has been very beneficial and farmers from Navolato, and Culiacan have not given up donating their fresh produce.
For the Bank, Sinaloa’s agricultural companies represent a great ally in these donations since many families in different municipalities of Sinaloa have access to healthy and varied food.
The companies that belong to our Veggies from Mexico community are an important part of this great support, some of them are Grupo Chaparral, Tricar, Agricola El Nazario, Promotora Agroindustrial y Comercial del Tamazula, and De La Costa. Some of the products that these companies donate are tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, green beans, etc.
Likewise, the Food Bank of Culiacan states that the success of these donations goes far beyond the tons of food that are collected and delivered to low-income people, the success is translated into the large number of people whom year after year join in collecting and donating food from the basic food basket.
Banco de Alimentos de Culiacan is a private assistance institution whose mission is to provide food assistance to the neediest people in Sinaloa. It seeks to be a sustainable institution that meets the needs of vulnerable families in the municipalities of Culiacan, Navolato, Mocorito, Cosala, and Angostura, always doing so with a high sense of humanity.
In 2022 alone, the Culiacan Food Bank benefited more than 75,844 families in these municipalities, delivered 141,547 food packages, and rescued 3,228 tons of food.
