Veggies From Mexico and CIDH executives meet to discuss trends in Sinaloa’s fresh produce industry
On Saturday, July 30th, the President of the Board of Directors of Veggies from Mexico, Engineer Antonio Beltran Ochoa, the General Director of this organization, Mr. Georgius Gotsis, and the General Director of the Commission for the Investigation and Defense of Vegetables of Sinaloa (CIDH), Mr. Mario Robles, met.
The objective was to share experiences and concerns about the global economic situation. To analyze how inflation and price increases in agricultural inputs have affected production and marketing processes of the industry.
More importantly, to share strategies so that these costs do not affect the production objectives that we have as a state and therefore do not affect the food supply.
Also discussed were the hundreds of thousands of farm workers and their families who come to Sinaloa year after year from different states in southern Mexico and who are provided with housing, medical and dental services, daycare, and education at no cost. Various strategies were proposed to ensure that this population is not affected by the challenges of the sector.
In the end, the importance of communicating all the above to our customers, our distributors, and supermarkets was expressed; to raise awareness and request their support with better sales strategies to market more and better the vegetables produced in Sinaloa.
