Know more about Veggies From Mexico: Social Programs – Adult Education
Every season, hundreds of workers migrate with the hope of finding better employment conditions and thus improving the quality of life for themselves and their families, these end up being mostly hired by farming companies for the development of various activities in their field and packing facilities, it should be noted that these do not always migrate by themself, a small part of them travel to work in Sinaloa by themself, while most do so with their entire family (including children, youth and seniors).
Most of the farming companies that belong to the Veggies from Mexico community have housing spaces, equipped with basic services (water, electricity, and drainage) for the workers and their families for the time they work, free of charge. In addition to these facilities, there are spaces for recreational activities such as sports fields, playgrounds, and green areas; they also develop and implement social programs internally and in collaboration with other associations for the benefit of workers and their families, such as health and safety programs and basic education for children, young people, and adults.
Taking this last example, we know that access to education is a basic right that we all have since childhood, it provides us with skills and knowledge necessary for our development, however, unfortunately, many people could not have access to this right or had to stop studying.
Farming companies promote the permanence of workers’ children in school, providing free transportation to schools, providing them with teaching materials, and help with educational advisors, others have facilities within the same company with the necessary equipment for its proper functioning so that children and teachers are comfortable, and classes do not stop.
They also run some institutions, such as the ISEJA (Sinaloa Institute for the Education of Youth and Adults), so that workers and their families who wish to return and finish their basic education can do so without any problem. They have spaces for them to take their classes.
The latter has had a great positive impact since personnel who did not know how to write and read, have now learned and have been able to aspire to a higher position within the company and thus also improve their family finances.
This type of program contributes to the integral development of families and the permanence of personnel in the company.
Through these monthly newsletters Veggies from Mexico, promotes to the community and the world these actions and programs of Sinaloa’s grower companies.
The ISEJA seeks to provide an effective and quality education for young people and adults, who have not completed their basic education.
