Inauguration of the Greenhouse, Packing and Housing Expansion at Agroindustrias Villa Santiago
At the end of July, the company Agroindustrias Villa Santiago inaugurated the expansion of its greenhouse, packing, and housing facilities. This company is in Compostela Nayarit and is dedicated to the production of vegetables for the summer market and it is part of Grupo Agricola Chaparral.
The formal inauguration ceremony of the expansion works was honored by the presence of Dr. Miguel Angel Navarro Quintero, Governor of the State of Nayarit, the deputy Alba Cristal Espinoza, President of the Congress of Nayarit, Romina Chang, Municipal President of Compostela, Sergio Esquer Peiro, General Director of Grupo Agricola Chaparral and Carlos Manuel Palazuelos, Director of Agroindustrias Villa Santiago.
This year’s expansion work included the installation of 4.9 hectares of greenhouses with hydroponic irrigation; a new grape tomato and roma tomato sorting line were installed, and the existing grape tomato line was modernized. Two housing units for migrant farm workers and a sanitary unit were also built.
Mr. Sergio R. Esquer expressed Grupo Agrícola Chaparral’s commitment to improving the living conditions of its workers, more active participation with society, and joint work with the different governmental agencies.
With this expansion, Villa Santiago increases its tomato supply and prepares for the future by providing better post-harvest handling of its products. It also improves the living conditions of its migrant workers with two new housing units.
The products offered by Agroindustrias Villa Santiago are mainly grape tomatoes and Roma tomatoes.
