The municipality of Tlapa, Guerrero has a large number of migrants who work in other states of Mexico, or even work in the US. This is why, the Government in the State of Guerrero, through Unidad de Servicios Integrales (Comprehensive Service Unit, or USI), provides an area entitled “Casa del Jornalero” operated by the Ministry of Welfare.

“Casa del Jornalero” welcomes the people and/or families of migrant farming workers before they start their travel or their return. Migrants can be domestic or foreign, these are people who leave or return from the farming fields.

Marcelino Milán Rosete – Manager of 04 Jurisdiction Mountain – stated that providing this type of care has a great deal of significance to Tlapa, as it is the capital city with the most floating population. According to their latest records it had 2,000 domestic and 11 foreign migrants.
