Agricola El Nazario provides ongoing GAP and GMP training
Agricola El Nazario, a member of our Veggies from Mexico agricultural community, is constantly providing training to all areas of the company. Recently, the company’s safety coordinators received training on Good Agricultural Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices from the Veggies from Mexico audit team. The training was given by the internal auditor, Pharmaceutical Chemist, and Biologist Elvia Rosa Martínez Bueno.
Some of the Good Agricultural Practices that were discussed in the training were water management, the importance of water for the products that the company exports and how a plan should be carried out from the field to packaging, the frequency with which revisions and tests should be carried out for its optimal use.
The topic of agrochemicals was also discussed; how to keep control through safety sheets, cleaning procedures, and order where they are located and how personnel should use personal protective equipment. The importance of hygiene for product safety was also discussed, since having cleanliness policies and standards in place ensures that the food produced is healthy and safe.
In the Good Manufacturing Practices training, some of the measures and recommendations that should be established in the company’s facilities were mentioned, such as the importance of signs on the packing facilities, such as the evacuation route, safety zone, electrical risk, etc. The characteristics that the area must have when in contact with the product to minimize contamination risks; for example, they must be smooth and easy to clean.
Having this knowledge gives the food safety team at Agrícola El Nazario the ability to resolve any situation that may arise at any stage of food production and benefits the entire company because the staff that has the knowledge shares it with the other members and can count on a trained team in all areas.
Without a doubt, for Agricola El Nazario, training is one of the key activities in the implementation of its food safety programs.
