On August 28th, 29th, and 30th, the annual Congress of the Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture AC (AMHPAC) took place. This event was attended by the most important greenhouse vegetable growers in Mexico. German Gandara, a tomato grower and new AMHPAC president, along with the new Board of Directors, including Vice President Eduardo de la Vega Canelos from Bioparques de Occidente and Treasurer Javier Ignacio Lopez Ruffo from Agricultura Controlada, as well as other significant growers from across the Mexican Republic, were present.

The event featured an exhibition space with more than 50 participants and 13 talks and panels. Topics discussed included the national and international water situation, agricultural finances, the tomato suspension agreement, food safety, and nearshoring within the sector.
Marte Vega, president of Confederation of Agricultural Associations of the State of Sinaloa (CAADES), Juan Labastida, president of AMSAC, Juan Jose Flores, general director of Aneberries, and German Gandara, president of AMHPAC, participated in the panel Mexican Fruit and Vegetable sector: Opportunities, challenges and threats, which was moderated by Alfredo Diaz, general director of AMHPAC. It was also highly motivating to listen to the conference “Latitudes and Adaptation” by Alberto Lati. In a simple, friendly, and emotional manner, this acclaimed sports commentator conveyed the importance of continuous improvement, resilience, and always giving extra effort to achieve our dreams, regardless of the industry in which we participate.
Also noteworthy was the signing of a collaboration agreement between Veggies from Mexico/CAADES and the Canadian Dispute Resolution Corporation (DRC), an organization aimed at resolving commercial disputes between growers, distributors, brokers, buyers, retailers, and all those involved in the purchase and sale of fresh fruits and vegetables in Canada and the United States. Marte Vega Roman signed on behalf of CAADES, while Luc Mougeot, President of DRC, and Jaime Bustamante, Director of Trading Assistance of DRC, signed on behalf of DRC. Enrique Riveros, President of AARC, Mario Haroldo Robles, Director of CIDH, and Georgius Gotsis Fontes of Veggies from Mexico acted as witnesses.
