Monthly Column: AMHPAC Social Responsibility Symposium

As you are aware, there are several state and national organizations representing the Mexican horticultural export sector. One of these organizations is the Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture AC (AMHPAC), which advocates for all national growers of vegetables in shade houses and greenhouses.
In Mexico, there are over 50,000 hectares utilizing these advanced technologies, contributing to more than $2.5 billion in annual exports. These agricultural practices also employ hundreds of thousands of farm workers. The primary crops cultivated include tomatoes, raspberries, bell peppers, strawberries, cucumbers, apples, roses, and blackberries, among others. Notably, Sinaloa holds the top position in planted space within Mexico, boasting more than 9,000 hectares.

AMHPAC has emerged as a benchmark for Mexican growers. The organization consistently shares knowledge through training sessions, webinars, and symposiums. Sustainability remains a critical topic for the sector, and it was the focus of the 5th edition of the Agricultural Social Responsibility Symposium, which was scheduled for March 21st and 22nd in the city of Guadalajara. Key topics covered during the symposium include T-MEC, food safety, labor law reforms, efficient water use, and the fiscal impact on the agricultural sector, among others.
Participants in the symposium did have the opportunity to engage in workshops, conferences, and networking events, connecting with professionals and fellow growers specializing in these critical areas. If you are interested in participating in its next edition, we invite you to visit www.amhpac.org for more information.
