Monitoring Program for Pollutants
The Monitoring Program for Pollutants, implemented by the State Plant Health Committee of Sinaloa (CESAVESIN), is intended to strengthen food safety in farming production through the detection and analysis of pollutants which may pose risks to public health and to the commercialization of farm products.
Food safety is an essential factor in the agri-food chain, as it allows to ensure that farming products are suitable for human consumption. The main activities of the program include microbiological analyses of fruits and vegetables, chemical studies to detect pesticide residues, and specific tests to identify aflatoxins in corn. These studies provide reliable information for decision-making intended at controlling and preventing risks in farm production.

The program prioritizes crops of high economic and nutritional relevance such as corn, beans, rice, wheat, tomato, chili, cucumber, mango, grapes, and lettuce, among others. It is mostly intended for small and medium growers, as well as production units with greater pollution risks or commercial relevance.
Program operation is managed by the Regional Food Safety Laboratory (LARIA), whose mission is to deliver reliable and timely results using advanced technology, enabling effective decision-making for pollutant control in agri-food production.

As part of its goals, the program includes 1,000 microbiological analyses, 1,000 pesticide residue analyses, and 200 aflatoxin tests in corn. These efforts benefit farming entities such as Sinaloa and other growing states, contributing to the certification of products under the Pollution Risk Reduction Systems (SRRC) from SENASICA. These efforts help assess the level of food safety in production areas and promote improvements in farming processes.
In conclusion, this program is fundamental for strengthening food safety, preventing risks to consumer health, and building trust on the farming products marketed both domestically and abroad.
