Decent work is a fundamental human right because it allows individuals to develop skills, creativity, and a sense of usefulness, while also providing economic remuneration to meet their needs and those of their families, ensuring a dignified life.

According to our Labor Laws, the characteristics of dignified work include non-discrimination, access to social security and a remunerative salary, continuous training, and optimal safety and hygiene conditions.

To comply with these characteristics, daily activities must not cause occupational hazards, which are injuries or illnesses that may occur during work duties.

Therefore, it is important to identify the hazards present in each work area and to which each person in the organization is exposed. By knowing these hazards, we can evaluate them and implement the most appropriate control measures to mitigate their impact on workers’ health. The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare has established NOM-030-STPS-2009, which supports the identification and evaluation of these hazards through hazard analysis.

Control measures can include eliminating the hazard by modifying processes or activities, implementing physical means to block and reduce the level of risk, providing adequate personal protective equipment, and training personnel on the hazards and the control measures implemented.

Human resources are the most valuable asset an organization has, and safeguarding the integrity of employees is a responsibility that both employers and workers must undertake together to create a safety culture.
