During the talk, Mr. Georgius shared that the Free Trade Agreement signed in the 90s came to boost Mexican agri-food exports, mainly of fresh foods. He also mentioned that in the last decade, the export of vegetables has grown approximately 75%, mainly to North America.

Within tomato consumption in the winter season, 1 out of every 2 tomatoes is from Mexico. I also commented that most consumers when they buy a tomato, an avocado, or a cucumber are certain that they are buying a healthy food, a safe food and they are also assuming that they are being produced under standards of social responsibility and sustainability.

Today consumers are much more demanding and much more informed when it comes to consuming their food, they demand quality food, food that guarantees nutrition, and safe food, that is why consumers have been part of this industry by making these demands.
