Last Wednesday, June 3, at the Marriott Hotel in Culiacan, Veggies From Mexico (VFM) and Corteva Agriscience gathered horticulturists from our community and Corteva distributors for a meeting intended to address what truly matters in the growing field: growing well and safely; and understanding where the market is heading.

The event was led by Elliot Mojardin Ley, Key Account Manager at Corteva Agriscience, and his team, who shared with us the history of the company and its relevance at both national and international levels. Corteva presented itself as what it already is for many growers: a dependable and committed supplier to growers, supporting the Mexican growing fields with technology, solutions, and long‑term support.

From Veggies From Mexico, our CEO, Georgius Gotsis, spoke about the commitment of growers to food safety. He explained how Veggies From Mexico adds value to horticulturists through audits and summer training programs on food safety and social responsibility, tools which are not a luxury today, but a necessity to compete and export. The message was clear: taking care of what we grow and taking care of those who grow it is the foundation of the trust the world places in the growing fields from Sinaloa.

Corteva also brought us, through Gabriel Alvarez Mendoza from Agri Tendencias y Servicios, a conference on the global geopolitical situation and the outlook for the horticultural market. It was a comprehensive overview of the factors currently influencing prices and product availability: the trade war between the United States and China, the return of regionalization, the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on fertilizers and oil, and the climate phenomena expected in the coming months.

Also, another subject that affects us closely was discussed: the renegotiation of the USMCA and the risk of seasonality measures that some U.S. growers are seeking to impose on Mexican fruits and vegetables.

We would like to thank Corteva Agriscience for the joint organization and to every grower and distributor who joined us. Events like this remind us that the future of farming is built through partnership: with solid information, technology, and a genuine commitment to food safety and competitiveness of Sinaloa.
