The Veggies From Mexico audit team Conducted a Calibration Exercise on Workplace Safety and Health
Culiacan, Sinaloa. – In January 2025, the new version of the standard for safety and health conditions in agricultural activities workplaces (NOM-003-STPS-2023) will come into force, which is why it has been added to the social responsibility list of the Eleven Rivers Growers Badge. It is important to remember that the STPS (Mexican Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare) will be empowered to monitor compliance with these criteria in agricultural companies from the date it comes into force.

To ensure that the Eleven Rivers Growers auditors conduct the audit exercise in the most standardized way possible, a calibration exercise was carried out on November 7, 2024, during which the evaluation of the new criteria was reviewed and discussed.
This practical calibration was made possible thanks to Agricola Belher, a member company of the Veggies from Mexico community, which lent its facilities, and to the leadership of the engineer Hector Manuel Sanchez Larrañaga, is an independent hygienist with more than 30 years of experience in agricultural safety.

The previous version of this standard focused on controlling hazards related to handling phitosanitary products. Now, the Official Mexican Norm NOM-003-STPS-2023, reviewing these hazards, includes all those of importance in the agricultural sector, including those related to handling farm equipment based on the Mexican norm (NOM-007-STPS-2000).
