Rodeli Growers Company develops its Annual Safe Recruitment Program for Farm Workers

The Rodeli Growers company, a member of our Veggies From Mexico community, developed its annual Safe Recruitment Program for Farm Workers in the state of Guerrero last November. For the past nine years, Maria Guadalupe Hernandez Nuñez, the Social Responsibility Coordinator of the company, has visited these states to develop the transportation and safe farm workers recruitment, most of which return year after year.
The reasons why the company implements this program is to communicate to employees the regulations and policies for safe recruitment, which include:
.

.
- Company location, phone numbers, and contact information
- Description of available job openings
- Wage, work schedule, and job description
- Description of social security benefits
- Policy prohibiting child labor
- Housing Unit/Apartment regulations
- Daycare facility regulations
The company provides workers with transportation service and suitable conditions for a safe trip. Before each trip, the biosafety protocol is explained to them. Also, the Social Responsibility Coordinator keeps a “safe transportation log” that records the number of stops made so workers can eat, drink water, and use the restroom.
The company, in order to providing the best quality of life for its workers and their families, offers dignified housing, including: a stove, gas cylinder, mattresses, and blankets upon arrival. The company also provides hot water through solar water heaters installed in the housing.
.

.
To care for the children of the farm workers who travel with them, the company has a daycare facility, providing educational services, and seeks support to encourage families during their stay.
