Child of Farm Workers Win Math Olympics














Navolato, Sinaloa.- Alan Yahir Fuentes Contreras, the son of migrant farm workers at Lo De Beltrán Community Development Center from Agricola Belher, won first place at the 12° State Math Olympics.
Students were selected through an evaluation test, where twelve children obtained outstanding results, five of these are from the CDC Lo De Beltrán. The participants were:
Jade Noemi Hernandez Rodriguez, 6 years of age, 1° grade, a native of Puebla.
Abril Melissa Nolasco Cordero, 7 years of age, 2° grade, a native of Oaxaca.
Alan Yahir Fuentes Contreras, 9 years of age, 4° grade, a native of Oaxaca.
James Alejandro Nolasco Cordero, 11 years of age, 5° grade, a native of Oaxaca.
Ángel Daniel Noyola Hesiquio, 12 years of age, 6° grade, a native of Baja California Sur.

These children competed to a zone level. Where Alan Yahir stood out by obtaining the first place at General Ángel Flores school, which is a part of zone 033 of SEPyC. In this process, the competition was between sixteen schools from the same zone, each with twelve students. Alan Yahir obtained first place in his fourth-grade group, which had thirty-two students. The competition took place on January 15 at the José María Morelos school, located at the Balbuena community.
The next competition in which Alan Yahir will represent his school to a sector level is scheduled for Tuesday February 18.
This is the second consecutive year in which a migrant student has managed to stand out in these competitions, which represent a source of pride, inspiration, and motivation for all the children in this community. Congratulations to the winners!
