Recently we had the opportunity to host Gilberto Ceceña in Veggies From Mexico, a renowned cartoonist for the newspaper El Noroeste and a promoter of environmental initiatives through Conselva, Costas y Comunidades, with a group of successful farmers committed to conservation and regenerative farming from Angostura, Sinaloa. Their visit set a meeting point between tradition, innovation, and sustainability.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can become a key tool for enhancing farm practices. The growers who joined us at this meeting already have successful experience with regenerative techniques and expressed great interest in discovering how technology can help them better organize their data and statistics in order to make more informed and timely decisions.

During the session, participants discussed how AI is able to create a direct impact on critical farming subjects, such as water saving, input optimization, risk prevention, and advance planning of production cycles. A practical example was presented of how ChatGPT can be easily used by farmers themselves, paving the way for experimenting with the tool to generate useful and customized information.

Attendees agreed that artificial intelligence does not replace the expertise of the farmer, but rather complements it, becoming an ally in facing productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness challenges demanded by the market these days.

At Veggies From Mexico, we strongly believe in the union of technological innovation with responsible farming practices. Visits like this confirm that the future of farming lies in combining the best of both worlds: the wisdom of those who work on the land and the opportunities provided by new technologies.
