Multifunctional brigades are organized groups trained to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies within workplaces. Their importance lies in safeguarding the integrity of people, reducing risks, and taking timely action while awaiting for external emergency services.

According to The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) in Mexico, emergency brigades can be multifunctional, and cover areas such as evacuation, first aid, communication, firefighting and prevention, in compliance with regulation NOM-002-STPS-2010 on safety conditions and fire protection in the workplace.
