The Agricultural Food Safety Program, coordinated by the State Plant Health Committee in the State of Sinaloa (CESAVESIN), is a fundamental strategy intended to ensure the production of safe food through the implementation of measures that prevent pollution in the primary production of vegetables.
This program is based on the Federal Plant Health Law, which establishes the guidelines to apply Pollution Risk Reduction Systems (PRRS), with the purpose of avoiding the presence of physical, chemical, and microbiological contaminants in farming products.

Its main purpose is promoting, verifying, and certifying agricultural practices that guarantee food safety from the source, strengthening confidence in agri-food production and contributing to public health. It also seeks to improve hygiene conditions in production and packing units, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector.
To achieve these purposes, the program develops several strategic actions, including technical assistance to growers, initial diagnostics for the implementation of control systems, ongoing training in Good Agricultural Practices, as well as outreach and awareness activities on the importance of food safety.
Also, surveillance activities are conducted through sampling of water, surfaces, and agricultural products, in order to detect the presence of contaminants and ensure compliance with standards established by hygiene authorities.

The Agricultural Food Safety Program covers various production and packing units across the state, addressing strategic crops such as vegetables, fruits, and other high-value products. This strengthens the quality and safety of food intended for both domestic and international markets.
Within this context, the program is consolidated as an essential component for the sustainable development of the farming sector in Sinaloa, by promoting responsible practices that guarantee safe food, protecting the health of consumers, and enhance the competitiveness of Mexican farming.
