In Sinaloa, children raised their voices and put forth significant proposals on climate change. On the World Environment Day, the First Child Climate Summit 2024 (Cumbre Climatica Infantil) took place in the state, with participation from children of Sinaloa. Among them were the children of migrant workers from the Community Development Centers (CDCs) “CDC Dorita” and “Lo de Beltran” at “Agricola Belher”.

The purpose of these gatherings is to empower children and youth through dialogue and learning about climate change, and to foster informed perspectives on a topic of immense relevance to global health and well-being.

The event involved 34 primary schools from various municipalities in Sinaloa, including Cosala, Badiraguato, Salvador Alvarado, Angostura, Ahome, Culiacan, Mazatlan, Navolato, and San Ignacio. These schools presented their proposals for environmental improvement.

Some of the reflections shared by the children included: “I want future generations not to worry about droughts,” “Let’s take care of water,” “Children are also part of the change,” and “More natural food and well-being for all.”
