Training Week at Agricola El Nazario
SMETA 4 Pillars Training Version 7.0
Last September 23, the Internal Audit team from Veggies From Mexico lectured the SMETA 4 Pillars Training Version 7.0 to Agricola El Nazario staff.
The main purpose was to present the changes in the new version of SMETA and explain the requirements applicable to the operations within the company, as well as their level of compliance.
The training was intended for middle management, to the maintenance, administrative, office, and field managers.
This effort was supported by the food safety management, led by Engineer Jeremias Perez, who manages the subjects for the continuous upgrade of the team.

SMETA is one of the most widely used ethical auditing methodologies in the world, focused on labor, health and safety, environmental, and business ethics matters.
Some of the changes in version 7.0 include a management system being integrated through process documentation, staff training, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring. Also, these include updates in human rights requirements, clearer assessments on working, health, and safety conditions, as well as a greater focus on the environment and responsible supply chain practices.
Update of NOM-003-STPS-2023 and NOM-017-STPS-2024
Also, as part of internal strengthening actions, this training was provided: Update of NOM-003-STPS-2023 and NOM-017-STPS-2024, which shared the main changes to these standards that came into effect during 2025. This session was intended for middle management, and included subjects on occupational safety and health conditions applicable to the farming sector, such as the use of personal protective equipment, safe operation of machinery and tools, medical examinations for occupationally exposed staff, and emergency plans.

Food Defense
Another training session that was lectured focused on food defense, intended for the staff of safety management in facilities, field, packaging, and shelter. Concepts related to food defense, food safety, and food fraud prevention were addressed, standing out the importance of the activities from each area in complying with the food defense plan of the company and the CTPAT program, as well as other corporate safety programs.
HACCP
Finally, the HACCP training was developed for team members and middle managers from the various departments of Agricola El Nazario. This training addressed the 12 steps of the methodology for renewing their HACCP plan. The training was conducted in the form of a workshop, with the purpose of verifying the plan set out by the company and raising awareness of the relevance and responsibility the work team has in ensuring that identified hazards do not get out of hand.
