Conference Forum: Women Transforming the Food Industry

Culiacan, Sinaloa – As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, the conference forum “Women Transforming the Food Industry” was held, organized by Guia Soluciones Empresariales, a space dedicated to sharing knowledge and experiences that contribute to professional development within the food sector.
The program addressed subjects such as food safety, organizational leadership, knowledge of international regulations, and understanding global markets, with the purpose of providing tools to strengthen the work of those participating in this industry.
Among the speakers was Biologist Chrysthian Marisol Castro Sandoval, Innovation and Continuous Improvement Manager at Agricola Belher, a member of the Veggies From Mexico farming community, with the lecture “Due Diligence: A Strategic Pillar of Corporate Social Responsibility.”

During her presentation, she explained how due diligence can be integrated as a governance mechanism within companies, enabling the identification, prevention, and mitigation of legal, reputational, and operational risks. This work has been promoted through collaboration with World Vision Mexico and Stronger Together, organizations with which strategies and tools have been developed to strengthen business practices.
She also emphasized the importance of communicating the actions developed by companies in terms of social responsibility. She stated that sharing information with workers, communities, clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders provides visibility to the measures being implemented and helps attracting human talent. This communication can take place through public statements on company websites, information fairs, internal campaigns, social media, or newsletters.
As an example, she mentioned that Agricola Belher has organized health fairs and preventive services for several years, with participation from both public and private institutions offering information, guidance, and a variety of services to employees. These events provide access to vaccinations, disease prevention, and advice on various subjects of interest related to well-being. These initiatives also help strengthen the workplace environment and encourage many workers to return each season.

In this regard, companies participating in global markets are preparing to comply with new guidelines intended to strengthening transparency and corporate responsibility.
Additionally, she shared some of the actions being developed at Agricola Belher to support employees, especially those working in the fields. These include services such as housing, medical care, education for their children, school transportation, daycare facility, recreational activities, and training programs.
The forum also featured the participation of Dr. Nelly Peña Haaz, specialist in Good Manufacturing Practices for food-producing companies; Dr. Nora Guadalupe Valenzuela Ramos, educational leader, consultant, and coach; and Edna Fong Payan, CEO of Jaztea.
