The Arizona Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement and the Yuma Safe Produce Council have released a food safety training tool. The shared online training platform is a learning management system that provides free training, according to a news release.

Training topics include:

  • “Arizona LGMA Metrics 101” (available in English) — This interactive, online training helps employees learn about the Arizona LGMA food safety requirements through 16 modules.
  • “California LGMA Preharvest Testing” (available in English) — This course provides an overview of risk-based, preharvest testing through six modules.
  • “Yuma Safe Produce Council Supervisor Training” (available in English and Spanish) — The “Food Safety Top Ten for Leafy Greens Supervisors” course helps employees meet annual requirements of food safety best practices and features the supervisory role in implementing and reinforcing food safety practices.

All the training courses are online and free for anyone in the fresh produce industry to take, the release said. The self-paced courses take about two to three hours per course. After successful completion, an individual will be issued a certificate of completion.

The organizations said they plan to add more training and are currently creating a course to train users how to conduct preseason, preharvest and daily harvest assessments.  To access, register and view all the available training courses, visit allucantrain.com/doctum/produce#/login.
