Regarding the influence of informative or warning seals on consumers’ purchasing decisions, this certificate comes to the industry and ensures products free of the 9 main allergens.

An innovative initiative has taken the lead in food safety: MenuTrinfo’s Certified Free From (CFF) program. This revolutionary seal has become the symbol of trust for more than 33 million consumers with life-threatening food allergies in the United States.

With a mission to provide safe options for consumers, the CFF seal was designed to guarantee foods free of the nine major allergens. Since its inception in 2017 as a verification service for food service providers, the program has expanded its reach to cover mass-market packaged goods.

Claire Peacock, operations director at MenuTrinfo, said: “We developed the Allergen Free Certificate so that consumers can find confidence in their food choices.” This approach has led to the CFF seal being a reliable reference in the search for safe foods.

The validation of the CFF program does not stop there. The American National Stands Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board has granted ISO 17065 accreditation to the certification process. This recognition highlights the importance of MenuTrinfo’s standards and certification schemes.

Betsy Craig, president and CEO of the company, highlights the need for equality in food transparency: “The allergy community deserves trusted solutions, as do those who require gluten-free options.” The CFF seal is a step towards equity in food information.

A gap in allergen labeling regulations has prompted the creation of the CFF program. Although companies must identify major allergens, unverified claims can cause confusion. MenuTrinfo seeks to close this gap and provide clarity to consumers.

Food uncertainty has also expanded due to precautionary statements on labels. These statements, such as “may contain” or “produced in a facility with,” lack verification by the FDA. The CFF seal eliminates this ambiguity.

The attention of regulators has led to significant changes. The FDA has officially designated sesame as the ninth most relevant allergen, promoting measures to prevent cross contamination. MenuTrinfo has incorporated these measures into its certification process.

The FDA continues to lead on food safety with new guidelines on allergen labeling and cross-contact prevention. The commitment to improving transparency reinforces the importance of the certifying company’s CFF program.
