Agricola Belher Holds its Annual Training Program










Navolato, Sinaloa.- As part of its annual training program, Agricola Belher, a company which is a member of our Veggies From Mexico farming community, held various sessions focused on Good Agricultural Practices, Food Safety, and Social Responsibility. Highlights included:
Implementing of Pollution Risk Reduction Systems in Agricultural Production, lectured by Biologist Uriel Urías, PSRRC of CESAVESIN.
The session was intended for production, packaging, logistics, innovation, and continuous improvement staff, strengthening their knowledge on Good Agricultural and Handling Practices to ensure food safety in food production.

Food Handlers
Training for Food Handlers was also developed by nutritionist Karla Nathaly Cibrian Ramirez of the AFOMAC IAP team to its employees in the tortilla factory, the kitchens of daycare facilities, and the dining areas of packaging houses.
The training addressed the subject of staff hygiene and health, highlighting the importance of personal care to preserve a healthy lifestyle and prevent food contamination. Hand and nail hygiene, proper use of work clothing and gloves, and the necessary cleaning standards in production areas and utensils, according to regulation NOM-251-SSA1-2009, were discussed.
The training also explained how to avoid cross-contamination, proper food handling and preservation, cooking and refrigeration temperature control, and applying the FIFO method (First In, First Out). By the end, the importance of washing and disinfecting fruits and vegetables to ensure food safety was highlighted.

Basic microbiology
This training was lectured by Biochemist Edgar Ramirez, Internal Audit Coordinator at Veggies From Mexico, and it was intended for middle management in production, packaging, storage, IMC, leaders, and supervisors.
During the training, an overview was provided on the behavior of microorganisms and their relationship with food, the environment and factors associated with food safety. The fundamentals of general microbiology, pathogens of interests in fresh produce, factors determining the survival and development of microorganisms (CHATTO), foodborne diseases (ETA’s), as well as practical examples applied to daily operations were reviewed.
