Veggies From Mexico presents the webinar: Relevance of PCR tests in saliva to maintain working and family environments COVID-19-free

Veggies From Mexico presents the webinar: Relevance of PCR tests in saliva to maintain working and family environments COVID-19-free

On April 16th, LANIIA-CIAD (National Laboratory for Food Safety Research) in cooperation with Eleven Rivers Growers – Veggies From Mexico, presented the webinar: Relevance of PCR tests in saliva to maintain working and family environments COVID -19-free, lectured by Dr. Cristóbal Cháidez Quiroz, Lead Researcher at LANIIA.

The purpose of this webinar was to make suggestions to farming companies in order to establish an Internal Business Monitoring Program (PMIE) as a strategy to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus in the working environment of affiliated companies, and reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection.

This program includes three lines of action:

  1. The implementation of biosafety protocols in affiliated companies.
  2. Taking saliva samples from the personnel under a planned and standardized scheme.
  3. Analysis of saliva samples to detect SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR.

The benefits of implementing this program are:

  1. It helps reducing the spread of the virus amongst the personnel by having an early detection.
  2. It avoids work absences due to disability issued by the healthcare sector.
